Why Can’t I Make Any Friends?

Paul: “I am having a very bad time in college right now. When this term started, I decided to express the real me to people, but although I tried to make friends, either they really didn’t understand friendship or didn’t like my company. Now I hide myself in class and feel alone and unacceptable. Even when I try to do something, things go wrong all the time. I feel like nothing. People laugh at me. I used to be so full of confidence, fun-loving, someone who got excited about anything new. I have always done good to people, always thought about their well-being, always been on the side of someone who is bullied. I don’t understand why this is happening to me.”

The Voice for Love: “My beloved child, thank you for your question. Thank you for turning to and seeking Truth and Love, which is all there is and which you are, too.

“Know, My blessed one, that you have never done anything wrong. You have simply allowed yourself to express your true essence which is love, joy, kindness, and innocence, and when this is not recognized or appreciated, you feel an outcast and rejected. In order to shield and protect yourself from what you could consider as being attack, disapproval or a lack of lovingness towards you, in whatever form this may present itself, you isolate yourself and feel abandoned.

“Yet it is not so much a question of others abandoning you as you who are abandoning yourself, your true nature. My beloved child, the Love that you are does not need to hide itself for fear of being judged and rejected but, by its very nature, must expand and manifest itself in whatever facet it wishes to express at a given moment. Do not be afraid of being who you truly are, do not be afraid to be your true self. This may require a certain amount of courage at the beginning and yet in doing so, the Love that you are will find its way into the hearts of all who come into contact with you. And through you, they will see a reflection of themselves, of who they truly are, which of course is Love.

“Know that I am with you every step of the way and you are never alone. Trust that I am guiding you and simply allow yourself to be the full expression of Love that you are: be the laughter, the joy, the innocence, the Love that are your true essence. Love is strength, integrity, truth and can melt the hardest ice with its warmth. Simply let yourself BE, My child, and know that you are loved and blessed infinitely.

“Peace be with you now and forever. Amen.”
