My Most Controversial Christian Radio Interview

Dear friends,

I had a very unexpected radio interview a few days ago that will likely spark a little controversy. I’d love for you to tell me what you think in the comments area! Here’s how it went down…

I’ve been doing a lot of radio interviews since the release of my book, When God Spoke to Me. Because I’ve been doing so many, I stopped doing research on the people interviewing me. Usually, when someone asks to interview me, I check out their website, see what type of program they have, see where they’re coming from, etc. For whatever reason, I completely stopped doing that.

For example, when I had my interview with Ilanya a few weeks ago, I had no idea who she was until a few minutes before the interview when my wife told me that she used to be a regular guest on Oprah back in the 90s! A few days ago when I did my most recent interview, I had no idea who Don Parker was, what he believed, what his program was about, or anything else. I just figured it was going to be like all the others.

Well, it wasn’t. Don was actually a very good sport, but I don’t think he appreciated what I had to say, and rightly so given where he was coming from. I won’t give away too much, but suffice it to say, I don’t think his audience liked me very much.

One final thing before you click the link below to listen to it…

One of the core tenants that we teach is the idea that God speaks to us where we are. As a result, I try to join people where they are when I speak to them. I try to use their vocabulary. I try to say things in ways that make sense to them. I try to join with them in their own reality. At the same time, I try to bring my truth to them in ways they can understand. In this particular interview, I definitely used vocabulary that I had never used before, and I said things that I would normally never say. I wasn’t lying or being untrue to Don or myself. I was simply trying to speak with Don and his listeners in ways they might be able to hear me.

By the way, I’d love to hear what you think of the interview. Please don’t be bashful in sharing your thoughts and opinions below in the comments area.

I hope you enjoy the interview. Click the play button or link below to listen now:

    DavidPaul,
It’s late and I need to go to bed. However, I wanted to at least say how much I appreciated your taking part – and staying the course – in this interview with Don Parker.
I’ve had quite a knee-jerk reaction to fundamentalist Christians for a number of years now and mostly “don’t go there.”
This interview was a great testimony for how grounded you are in the Holy Spirit.
I’ll keep this short as I need to let what I’ve just heard settle.
More blessings to you and yours!
    Linda

Thanks Linda. I’m glad you enjoyed it. And I hope you got a good night sleep!

    DavidPaul,

I listened with interest to this interview. At first I was getting a little upset with the interviewer, but then something in my head just told me to really listen to the guy (whenever you came up for air! – I’m kidding!), and I really have to say that you two seemed more in agreement, than not. Unfortunately,at the place where you disagree, there’s a large chasm between you.

I do not understand why fundamentalists are so infatuated with the bible as the ONLY word of God. But then I saw that I was projecting my thoughts about The Course in Miracles onto him, so I forgave (extended Love) myself and went on.

I also do not get why they think Jesus is the only Son of God. Why wouldn’t God make our being like Him an unobtainable goal? It still means we follow Him. If you EVER have another interview along this similar vein, you might want to discuss the writings of Kenneth Wapnick, who worked with and for the original scribes of The Course. He intermingles the words “Jesus” and the “Holy Spirit” in his work, making them synonyms. You might have to read one of his little books, though!

    Anyway, just a few thoughts.

    Blessings,
    Kirk Farrar

Thanks for sharing your experience, Kirk. Yes, I felt like he was wanting to believe what I was sharing, but couldn’t quite go there in the moment, especially on air with his own audience. I could be wrong, but I felt like he was trying to “try that hat on” so to speak and see what it felt like.

    DavidPaul,

I was in awe of the Love; Holy Spirit through you, was projecting into the world during this interview. It is always amazing to me how Love can over come the ego in every given moment. I ponder that maybe there was an ambush in there somewhere, but it is reconfirmed for me that Holy Spirit is a tough one to ambush. I really felt the Love and God is Love, so Thank you for those moments with God.

    With Love,
    Jim Abbott

  • http://www.thevoiceforlove.com DavidPaul Doyle

Thank you for your kind thoughts, Jim. I appreciate it. I certainly never saw it the way you did Aa the time. I was just feeling it and expressing it, but I wasn’t really trying to. I just felt like I was being myself and speaking my truth. I was actually really dreading the interview because I had had a very long day and had forgotten about the interview until about one hour before. I remember telling Candace, “Ug,I have an interview to do tonight.” When what I really want to do was just relax in front of the TV after a long day. :-) But I got up for it and meditated for a few minutes before the call and really enjoyed it and felt super happy and joyful by the end of it. I remember getting off the phone and telling Candace, “Wow. I just had a great interview.” Thanks for letting me share :-) lots of love to you.

Dear David, I listened to the radio interview and I must say you didn an increadable job. I think it was perfect that you didnt look into that mans background before the interview…because you might have done somethign differently and I think that would have been unfotunate….for it was all perfect for you both and all that hear it.
I feel that the only real issue Mr. Parker had with you is simply that he is at a different place in his spiritual developement then you. He isnt at a place to be able to ‘get’ what you are saying, or where you heart was coming from. I have spoken to quite a few people in that place myself. You said the same things that I say…which made me feel super great I might add. lol Anyway… your ability to speak to him from your spirit and what you believe to be true, and to not even remotely speak down to him or insult his belief system was just amazing. You spoke from a place of pure love…you spoke as I think Mr. Parkers ‘Jesus’ would have spoken…you came from a place of wanting to share the joy and the love of the holy spirit and thats all you can do. One thing I know for sure….there probably were a LOT of people that heard that interview that were changed by it. They might not say so but you know you touched peoples souls and some for the first I’m sure. Plus…even if they dont accept what you said…they cant unhear it and they will put it in thier back packs, so to speak, and will have it right there when its needed…and thtas perfect too! Opening minds…opening hearts….feeding souls…its the most blessed and joy filled job out there and you are doing it so well!
I appreciate you David…and I admire you. Keep up the good work!

    Dear DavidPaul,
I just got your email with the link to the interview, and listened to it with great interest. My sense, (judgment?) was that you were under attack the whole time, but that you didn’t perceive yourself as being attacked. What a fabulous example of seeing only the truth! On a more uncomfortable note, I was able to see in myself area’s that I share(d) with Mr. Parker.
Looking forward to seeing you and Candace in San Fransisco later on this week. Stephan Mead

Thank you for your courage in shining the light of love into, well, everything:-) It has helped me tremendously to listen to Jeshua in many forms and also to study these teachings from the original Aramaic in which they were offered. So much healing and release and forgiveness for me in this and for everyone of all religions. Compassion, tenderness, breathing love, surrender, joy–Jesus’ gentle laughter echoes the 2 commandments he gave which actually survived into the King James Bible: Love “God” with all your heart, and love your neighbor as yourself. David, your work has helped me and many in some very interesting ways:-) May your joy and peace expand and extend always.

Hi David! What a wonderful interview that inspires my life and bring a change in life. I enjoyed it and I have also learnt something from this and I believe as many people listening to this, they will also get inspired I love and like it. May God strength you and increase in your ministry.

  • Vimaladejong

    Dear DavidPaul,
Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful interview. I am totally with you. You were completely open, honest and honoring yourself and others. There’s still a lot of old conditionings, fear and feelings of unworthyness around, but I’m sure Love is calling all of us and your words will for sure have touched some peoples hearts or at least sowed some seeds. For myself it was very encouraging to hear how you are naturally following one clear way. Thanks again!
    With Love from the Sinai,
    Vimala

    David,
I LOVED listening to this audio. It answered some questions for me as to what some Christians believe. Your responses articulated much of what I believe, but haven’t been able to give such a clear voice to. Your responses were so clear and certain and in no way sounded defensive. You never perceived attack, but lovingly responded from such certainty that I was left wondering why anyone would want to disagree! Would you not have done the interview if you had done the preliminary research? I’m glad it worked out this way because I found it very helpful.
Thank you for shining your light!
    Jane

David Doyle as long as you have served our risen LORD Jesus you should realize that there are many belivers that their way is the only way.
Mr. Parker, thoughts are well intentioned, but Christians have not come to the realizeation that; “Salvation is God’s Justification to Man! It is though Santification is how we should live our Salvation.” Man kind wants to be spoon fed he does not like the anwsers and actions that are required of him.
David Doyle keep up the good work, I know you hear the same voice I hear everyday of my life. David Doyle the Holy Spirit is around us to serve us. It does require one to ask it of the Lord! Just as your children have needs that which you may see that they need, but you can not go and do or give it to them until they ask. It requires one to say YES “Y”ou “E”stablishing “S”elf!!!

Another “Absolute” to know if it is of the Lord. Just as you outlined in your answer about your teaching being that of Satan.
God is LOVE anything that does not protray that emotion serves Evil. If the answer is not an Absolute just as all of Jesus’s answrs were ABOSULUTES. The truth can not be the truth until it is an ABSOLUTE!
Please ask your self what is the root of all EVIL. It is an acknoymn of itself- “E”nsuring “V”anity “I”n “L”ife.
Mr. Parker, see a nick in his armor sheild, you are the rust that is eating it up. The only reason any Christian would take up the weapon of hurt, is out of envy. When one walks with GOD one understands that what God wants of MAN is a fellowship. God has not had this fellowship since the Garden of Eden.
Evil must exist so that man can choose. This is the only way that God can get a true following. The fruit opened man’s eyes, but slammed the door shut on his heart.
Please keep one thought in mind. There is so much that GOD wants to teach those that listen. The Bible used as a guide for daily devotionals, proves a spring board and direction for GOD to direct us to what he wants you to learn on your daily walk.

Please David Paul Doyle cut the phase “You Know” NO they do not know, it requires you show, tell and live the santification.

    Stan Mc Elveen

Thanks Jane. I’m so glad that people are perceiving the interview so positively. I didn’t really know what people would think. Thanks for taking the time to listen to it and share your experience with me. It’s definitely inspiring me to want to share this interview with even more people. Lots of love to you, Jane. :-)

Love conquered, I pray that he chooses to allow Love to settle within him. Love is eternal … blissfully time has no relevance.

  • http://www.thevoiceforlove.com DavidPaul Doyle

Thank you, Stan. I agree with you that Mr. Park is very well-intentioned. I believe that Christians are following their hearts just like everybody else, and just like everybody else, we are always evolving day by day in our relationship with God, love, and ourselves. It’s all and evolutionary journey for each us. We are all deepening our experience of love and truth day by day. Blessings to you my friend!

  • Scmills7

David, I feel you answered all the the questions well. There are many ways to answer the questions that were asked and I feel you well represented the perspective of Universal love and acceptance. I know because of where I’m at I might have been a bit more confrontational because I still hold some resentment toward those who proclaim the dogma of Christianity. However, I feel you came straight from the heart of love and I believe that is because you have such a deep connectiveness to love as that has been your practice for so long. In the end, I feel that only the truth is true and only the truth will stand once the veil of illusion is removed and from what I heard in the interview you are playing a significant role in that process. I hope to do the same as I know I will as well as all of us. Thanks be to God for the unchangeable truth!

  • Tracyinthehills

I enjoyed everything you had to say DavidPaul. You did a fantastic job of tempering your response as the host tried to undermine your beliefs and save you from the ‘devil’..
The voice of God was clearly speaking thru you ! Thanks for all you do…
    With love,
    Tracy

  • http://www.thevoiceforlove.com DavidPaul Doyle

Thank you. I appreciate it. It’s true, those questions could be answered in countless different ways. Love expresses to each of us uniquely. Just keep allowing it to express through you however it sounds. :-) blessings to you.

  • http://www.thevoiceforlove.com DavidPaul Doyle

    Thanks Tracy!

  • Jill

DavidPaul, You did a great job answering the questions you were asked, and explaining your understanding of Unconditional Love, Holy Spirit, Jesus, and God. Bravo! I did not perceive any attack in that interview. Mr. Parker did a good job of asking questions from his current belief system. I believe that you have planted a good seed in fertile soil with that interview. There may be an untold number of people listening to that program that may open to the possibility that they and their loved ones are unconditionally loved by God. What could be better than that?! God bless you for your courage in sharing that Love with us!!

  • James

    Greetings DavidPaul,

I appreciated your interview and answers. It is unfortunate that you were catch off guard. I could tell there was a turning point in your answers and when you were more comfortable. One comment that I may say, while it is great to talk to Christians about what the Course teaches, the two will never say the same thing – the Course and today’s Christianity. Christianity is based on sacrifice. It demands there be sacrifice to redeem the guilty. I loved your answers and I think they were perfect answers for Christians, or anyone, so Great Job.

  • http://www.thevoiceforlove.com DavidPaul Doyle

Good to hear from you, Jill. thanks for your kind words. I agree, Mr. Parker did a great job. I thought he was very professional and I was not feeling attacked. I could feel that he was challenged, but he was not attacking.

I hope you’re doing well! :-) Lots of love to you.

  • http://www.thevoiceforlove.com DavidPaul Doyle

Good to hear from you, James. It’s been a while. I’m glad you enjoyed it :-) wishing you well!

  • Maura

DavidPaul, How absolutely beautiful this interview was,the experience i had in listening was, commonality you both shared in your love for god, both unique divine expressions, both in oneness of being in service with god, I also felt towards the latter part of the interview, some spark of truth resonated with mr parker, light of hope, maybe a beginning of a new understanding,How Lovely, thank you.

  • Trish

David Paul…..you did a wonderful…WONDERFUL job!!! I felt your love beaming through. You were clear and spoke to the Interviewer at the level he could understand. I felt that he really didn’t know how to respond. Typically, Christians always come back to the same exact lines they were told and if one does not agree exactly to those specific words they are being led by the “devil”. I have in some ways experienced what you have experienced in speaking with people who have a very strong belief system…which is perfectly ok. It is their path at this time.

This interview taught me how to speak more simply and articulate more clearer without getting to much into The Course of Miracles book. You and I know it is very difficult to feed a baby a steak so one has to go slow and methodical through each comment. Your love and passion was so clear to me as you spoke ….and I felt fear and judgement from the Interviewer. You planted many seeds for thought and the Holy Spirit will water them and eventually we will all get there.

Thank you ..thank you …and I am most grateful for the work you and Candice do. It really helps.:)

  • http://www.thevoiceforlove.com DavidPaul Doyle

Thanks Maura :-) I appreciate it. Speak with you tonight! :-) ( Assuming this is the same are I know. How many Maura’s could there be? :-)

  • http://www.thevoiceforlove.com DavidPaul Doyle

Thank you Trish. I’m grateful that you took that away from the interview. It definitely helped that I had just spoken to someone who believed nearly exactly the same just days before for several hours on the chair lift while I was skiing :-) we would talk for 8 min., do a ski run together, talk for another 8 min. on the chair lift, etc. I think it helped to prepare me :-) blessings to you.

  • Lynda

Unable to pull it up. Would have really liked to listen. I’ll see if I can do it another way.

  • Anonymous

You were a clear and present model of Holy Spirit and Love. This “interview” was like opening a dictionary to reveal the inner, deeper meaning of conventional theological terms. What a blessing.

  • Carole

I would like to say that Jane echoed my feelings. Well done to you. The love you expressed was just wonderful. I also am wondering how anyone could disagree with what you had to say. Your responses were loving and insightful and will hopefully bless many who listen to them.

  • Roger

DavidPaul … I was both moved and inspired by the love you expressed throughout this interview. You expressed your deep spiritual understanding with great clarity . As you so rightly state it is often the semantics, our understanding of the words, that often create the perceived divisions between us. As a ” professed Christian” , who also has had and continues to have a direct relationship with God, any and all expressions of God’s love is something for us all to rejoice in.Perhaps mankind would be better served if we focus on that which unifies us and less on that which separates us.The testament of human kinds History can attest to the results of creating division. If anyone has difficulty in feeling the beauty and perfection of God’s message being expressed through you by the Holy Spirit I find it very sad. Your eldest brother, Jesus had a similar problem, we all know how the religious authorities of that time dealt with His expression of Love. Keep being the Love and bringing the Light and know that you are not alone…and so it is.

  • Jack Hrabak

DavidPaul — I think you were great! And that’s probably because I agree with everything you said. But beware of Born-Again Christians. My mother became “born again” and her favorite saying (which she said to me even after I had grown up and left the nest) was, “Accept Christ or burn in Hell” and she liked to add, “Hell is forever, Jack.” She never would have accepted the concept that the Spirit of God is within. And she died a horrible death.

  • Martha

Wow. An amazing interview. Such clarity, you never stumbled. And what a nice, well meaning man in Mr. Parker. He never argued with you, although his beliefs were clearly at odds with what you were saying, but he just asked questions and let you talk, giving you a platform to expand the mind of his listeners. No doubt seeds were planted in his mind, and certainly in the minds of many his listeners. Surely Providence got you guys together and made sure the message got through, in the wonderful, clear, loving Voice of God through you. Thanks for letting us know about the interveiw.
    Martha

  • Barbara Cooper

    Dear David Paul,
You are such a shinging light. The love, compassion, kindness and understanding that was emitted from the energy I felt coming from you was beautiful. Don Parker’s closing words made me feel that he heard you and the love that you represent with all that you teach even though he conveyed his doubts which are likely from the teachings he has been exposed to in this lifetime. Others listening to this interview would feel the truth of love for all that you were speaking and I believe that a huge number will be drawn to the Voice for Love that resides within each one of us. Blessings in the Light of Love, Barbie

  • Sesua

David Paul..I have recently discovered you and found that listening to your interview gave me a good idea of who you are. I have been in recovery from alcholism for 22 years. The truth is the truth is the truth! It resonates through every spritual program i’m in, and it resonates thru you. He was a typical christian that believes God is outside us, and therefore cannot except that peace is attainable here on Earth. Loved what you said about the ego being the devil. You really spoke about the 12 steps of my program. Fear, judgement, anger and self-centeredness, all character defects defended by the ego. Very good interview, considering all the uncomfortable pauses you had to jump in and cover for his inept radio personality. He really didnt defend his beliefs either. Maybe he was having a hard time debating what you were saying? How can you argue with someone who proclaims love?

  • http://www.thevoiceforlove.com DavidPaul Doyle

    thanks Eric

  • http://www.thevoiceforlove.com DavidPaul Doyle

Thanks Roger :-) . So do you consider yourself a practicing Christian? Do you go to a Christian church? If so, do you think what I share the interview would be acceptable at your church?

  • Sophie

    Dear DavidPaul,

I hesitated to listen to the interview because I still have quite some trouble to deal with this kind of tension. But it was great. I really admire your calmness and I understand how you chose to speak the language of the person you are talking to. I was feeling defensiveness on Don’s side and I would have loved to know more about his own experience and how he discerns the three voices.
I was surprised about the not reading books part. When you said that you felt that you didn’t need to seek more information, that felt right to me. Yet, I feel that reading “New Age” or self-help books serves me as a reminder of how I want to deal with myself and the world. I couldn’t really say that it is new information everytime, and I like the way it always boils down to the same thing. I enjoy seing the one thing, the love consciousness, from different angles through different persons’ eyes and also expressed in different words.
Thank you for sharing the interview. I realized how I can be very easily shaken when someone challenges or critizises my beliefs or my way of dealing with things. That’s when I doubt my capacity to discern the voices and tend to worry wether I have been mistaken. But still, I feel that I am developping more trust in my listening and discernment skills.

    Warm greetings from Germany,
    Sophie

  • RGRDNPRTY

You really held it together dear friend. Thank you for showing me the way to express myself in a positive nad non-threatening way. So many of the questions you were asked I have been asked and only some of the answers were teh same. I love the way you supported his path while holding strong to your own truth and the LOVE OF GOD.

  • Birdonawire12321

Jesus told us that the 10 commandments were part of the “old law.” They do not lead us to a spiritual life. There are 2 commandments; to love God with your whole heart and soul and your neighbor as yourself. We are not the “sons of God” we are all part of the “Son of God.” There is only ONE. Thank you.

  • Roger

I am a practicing Christian, however I respect all faith groups and like you see God’s expression in all.I enjoy the praise and worship with others as an expression of my relationship with God within the Christian faith.I love the music as an expression of praise.I know that I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Whether that is through the Holy Spirit or not is not a concern for me.As you so rightly stated Jesus left the Holy Spirit here to be our comforter and helper in order that we could even do miracles greater than His. It is my desire to emulate Jesus as a perfect example,in my own life and be the love that He is. I often wonder how Jesus would feel about our inability to love others due to the differing perceptions that we adhere to. My goodness, how many denominations and groups are there that profess to “know Jesus” Who feel that they have the only “right answer-the right truth”? Perhaps on some level they are all perfect in their seeking of their truth.
In my view, At the end of the day whatever you believe is all about the Truth that is God for you. I study the Bible daily and putting aside semantics, I realize that the Bible was written to the understanding of the people at the time . I can’t speak to the individual understanding of other Christians that I know .I suspect that they would be challenged by your beliefs. Within my own spiritual understanding I do not feel conflicted in anyway by the views you expressed as in my view, your beliefs are not inconsistent with what is expressed in the Bible or by Jesus himself. At the deepest level of understanding there is a unity of the Spirit in all of this. How can God who is love not love us unconditionally. Why do we feel such a need to create a God in our image? Your message of love should resonate with all of those who truly know Jesus and reflect Him in their daily life, as it is a perfect reflection of His message of Love!

  • Ingrid

I really enjoyed listening. My own beliefs resonate much more with yours than those of Don’s, but you both handled it very well. I also was very happy that Don allowed you to speak your truth, even though his own beliefs are different.
    Love and Light, Ingrid.

  • Dennislesea

Thank you so much for sharing this interview with us. What a tremendous learning experience to listen to the Holy Spirit deal with a “true Christian believer” , and deal with him with so much love and understanding. Bravo! Or maybe Halleluea!— Dennis

  • David

Thank you for posting this and the interview.. your speaking and sharing has really given me more streangth and made me feel closer again to God. I have and am going through some very had times. I lost my mother after over one year of very severe medical problems and for almost 11 months helping my wife care giving for her sister who has cancer past stage 4. I feel the Holy Spirit has given me a internal wholeness, which i can’t explain. I do feel sorry for Don he seems he is on the right path but needs to experience more and get closer to God. It seems( and I’m not judging) he might be somewhat book smart but he couldn’t quote things right or express himself enough. With you ,God , Holy spirit, was using you to express what He wants for us, ie. being close to him and sharing the Grace he has given to us. This just made me think I wonder if Don knows what the word Grace is or means that is sad if he is not aware. Maybe your witnessing may make him think or search more.

Thank you for giving me the oppertunity to listen and express what I feel.
May God continue to Bless you
    David

  • Diane

Really great interview that gave a lot of information to those who may be searching for more. I love that you explained Jesus as hearing the Holy Spirit! You did a wonderful job, DavidPaul, thank you. There was a lot of food for thought to the interviewer and his listeners. You didn’t make him wrong in any way, you did this interview with the voice of Spirit behind you!

  • Srdemi7

Phenomenal interview. Davidpaul you did an excellent job of presenting love, compassion, and acceptance. This interview demonstrated so well the ability of both of you maintain composure during intense discussion. I feel the Holy Spirit was there for the interview. the more that time goes on, the more I see what a great job Don did. If you’re reading any of this, Don, thank you for hosting a great show and for allowing me to share my truth.

thank you Ingrid for helping me experience this even more.

Thank you for your kind words and sharing, David. I’m glad the interview touched your heart and help to connect even more with Holy Spirit. I send my love and blessings to you, that you may extend it to those in need in your life as well. Blessings to you all.

Of course, I believe Jesus didn’t really die because God cannot die. But, you get the point. Much of what Don said was what drove me from organized religion. I believe that we will all return to God/Spirit/Source one way or another and we are all on our own path. Devil? Only in our minds.

You did a nice job of communicating your beliefs/knowing, DavidPaul and you were supportive of Don too. God is Love. You conveyed that.

Your interview is dead on , I would have liked you to be able to expand wth more of your personal views of our relationships , visions,vs. sight GOD as ONE with a forgiven world RICH and BLESSED . I admire you for your faith . Also would have liked to hear more of A Course in Miracles mentioned and its coheseveness with the bible. I personally find no conflict between the two books, so long as I am reading the bible with an open mind, looking for the intent of the author spiritually. I hope to hear from you with a petsonal reply, but you may do so publicly if you wish you may use me or my NAME in any way you choose as I AM totally ONE with ALL God Bless you David Paul Dan McCurdy

Even though I already left a very small comment yesterday, I ‘d like to say a little more. As I woke up this morning I immediately thought of this interview. It was very helpful for me, for I have many Christian friends, and even visit a church now and then where i know people, love the music, and can hear an inspiring sermon at times. I do not do this often, but I have no conflict with it. I honor my Christian friends, and this interview helps me even better to express myself with the occasional person who may want to go into an argument, although my friends are not like that , really. But some are just interested. When I was much younger and going through a very hard and painful occurrence, there was more well intended pressure from some Christians to join them, but seldom that was a long time ago. I was born in The Netherlands a country where many in history fled to for its freedom of religion. I believe there is more than one path home, for humans are born all over the world in countries with different religions and I was more interested in what they have in common than in what they can fight with each other about. I LOVE the poem of Rumi that says: “Outside ideas of right doing and doing wrong there is a field. I’ll meet you there”. Not judging is about not arguing about who is right and who is wrong. Let’s live in the questions and find our guidance, rather than live in boxed in opinion. I was thinking how delightful it was, (and I was really impressed too!) how respectful you were with Don. I am sure that you were apart in enabling him to stay calm and respectful as well, even though he thinks you are “wrong”, which is obvious, but he handled it well also. and did not pressure you to convert but honored your freedom of choice.

Hi DavidPaul, thank you so much for sending me this interview. Listening to it twice i feel the love filling me, softening me, encouraging me, inspiring me, comforting me. Up until now i kept having doubts about my ability to hear or feel the Holy Spirit, but somehow i feel the doubts left me. To me that is the greatest gift. You made it very clear that it is easier and closer than i thought. So thank you, thank Don and thank God! Warm greetings and a big hug from The Netherlands, Liesbet

Thank you Roger for your your above response, beautifully said.

Hi DavidPaul, I appreciated hearing this interview also, I’m so grateful for the way you responded to Don’s questions. It was clear there was a difference in your experiences and view points, and you never showed any signs of defensiveness, but rather accepted Don where he was at and extended your love. I have to also say that I was impressed by Don’s composure, it gives me hope for the future of humanity to hear this exchange that ended in a loving way from both vantage points, which connect in the centre.

    Namaste, Vivian

  • Melinda

As always, you are well-spoken and loving in your communication. You come across as accepting of Don and yet confident of what is true for you. Your spiritual faith is so alive and palpable. I think you handled yourself in the truest sense of what might be called “christian”. You attacked no one and may have healed many . . . I am glad you spoke with this man. He is worthy of love. My favorite part: I know that I am safe and (I paraphrase) I know you are too. Fear, and the need to be “safe” compels attack. Knowing our safety and security in God supports us to act with love and expansiveness. You did a beautiful, comforting job. My mother has asked me some of the same questions that Don did of you. I have always felt either tongue tied or defensive–neither have worked. Tongue tied comes across as tacit agreement, defensiveness as attack. You accepted Don and found common ground.

My learnings: Choose love, choose peace, choose again, . . . repeat. I am setting down the knew age books. I am turning inward and listening.

Now to apply all of what I learned in the next conversation with my mother(conservative Christian–her description).:) I am hopeful that a healing will take place. Thanks for the “living” lesson and example.

    Love,
    Melinda

Thanks for your kind words, Dan. I appreciate it. even though I am a big fan of the Course, I usually don’t talk about it very often because then it becomes about “the book,” or “a book,” as opposed to a direct experience, which is what our work with The Voice for Love is all about. Our primary aim is to give people the techniques the Holy Spirit has given us for directly experiencing that voice within. That is what I’m most passionate about because over many many years, I see that the five steps we were given impact people’s lives more than anything else I’ve ever seen or been a part of: http://www.thevoiceforlove.com/voice-of-god.html.

Many blessings to you Dan! Keep up the great work.

I’m so glad the interview touched you in the way that it has, Ingrid. And thank you, as well, for wanting to deepen your experience of hearing God’s voice in your life. I look forward to sharing our five step process with you. Many blessings to you!

That is so cool. Who would have ever thought that an interview could have that effect. Of course it’s not the interview itself, but your desire and willingness to open your heart and release whatever keeps you from The Voice for Love within you. So thank you for doing so. That’s a miracle!

  • http://www.thevoiceforlove.com DavidPaul Doyle

Thank you Vivian. I certainly agree. Don was a wonderful post and helped bridge a big gap. Perhaps it’s not so big after all…

  • Leroy Walker

Communication is the key factor here, without it the Holy Spirit is seemly silent. Jesus Christ had this same problem in his day. He was constantly ask questions about his beliefs concerning tradition and the “Law”. He answered them by way of the “Universal Communicator”, which is The Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit answers our questions in the here and now not the past or future. When we talk to the Holy Spirit about anything, His answer will not be “thou shalt not”. Nevertheless as you well put it, we are where we are and there is no need for shame about that.

  • http://www.thevoiceforlove.com DavidPaul Doyle

Thank you, Melinda. Just remember this. Our beliefs have nothing to do with who we are, our relationship with God, our success in the world, or anything else. Truly, our beliefs do not impact us at all. They may impact our experience, but our experience has nothing to do with the truth. Our experience is ours alone and doesn’t change anything about who we really are, our safety, our connection, or anything else. Our ego experiences and beliefs are designed to give us the experience of what it “would be like” to be separate from God, but they actually don’t separate us in any way. They just give us an experience. But that experience is meaningless when it comes to who we are and our connection. So it doesn’t really matter what people think or belief in the world. They are not separate from God and never will be. They are not lost and they never will be. They are not stuck and they never will be. Our beliefs don’t change anything except our experience. And we’re here precisely to give ourselves an experience we could get no other way. So it’s really all good, all the time, for everyone.

With full respect to any religious person, christian or other. I respect all of your views and beliefs. This conversation was a great eye opener for him and the christian community. Even though they have they’re own views, all that you said makes so much more sense than all the lies that any religious group has told us over the years. Christian Muslim whatever the group may be, they were all made to divide us. Make us believe we are different and not part of the same source. What you teach and preach is exactly what needs to be made manifest in this world. God is everything…. Good and Bad Light and Dark…. He is the master of all things in this universe. And each of us is a part of him, well every single thing seen and unseen are part of him and we are all connected. So let’s just love everyone and everything and lets let go of what we think is true and let god show us what truly is true, by letting him…. he’s already inside all of us… Oh and i just wanted to say that Yes JESUS was a great soul but I think we are all just as special and powerful and magical and whatever else you want to add to JESUS’s resume… We are the same type of soul, we are all equals. He was just more evolved or more connected to source. And now in this new age of thinking, we shall all become our own versions of the great soul that was JESUS. Don’t get me wrong I am not taking anything from Jesus, I am merely stating that we are just as great and loving and beautiful and perfect as he is. We just choose not to be. Like you said in the interview….. We are always connected to god, we just choose to connect and disconnect with our actions and intent. Love and Light to all and sorry if I bored or offended anyone. Thank you..Love Love and More Love to EVERYTHING.

  • Freeportgrammy

This morning I told the Holy Spirit i want to know more about Him. I googled in Holy Spirit and got your website the voice for love. Very Interesting. I agree with a whole lot of what you said on the talk show with Don. As I listened, I listened with my inner man. (the Holy Spirit) But I am not clear on how you come up with Jesus as less than the Holy Spirit and God. The only way to God is through Jesus, becasue man lost that direct relationship via Adam and Eve. Jesus died on the cross to restore mankind relationship back to God, and then Jesus left the earth and returned to God but sent the Holy Spirit to live within us to teach and guide us into all Truth. You bless me with the love factor that we all should have, but DavidPaul PLEASE don’t dis Jesus, include Him, in the love connection you have going on. God is love and Jesus and the Holy Spirit is one with God so are we one with Jesus and God and the Holy Spirit. You are on the right track, but your leaving Jesus too far behind and that will cause a detour somewhere along the road of life. KEEP SHARING THE LOVE OF GOD to others, but its God, Jesus and God’s HOly Spirit that governs this universe. Much Love and Blessings, Laverne -Bahamas

  • Montemor Carlos

Hey Friend how r u this wonderful day? I just read what you wrote about Jesus and I just wanted to make a comment if it’s ok…. with all respect to what you believe to be true (because everyone’s reality is their own.). I just think that DavidPaul is trying to get us to understand that We are not more than Jesus and Jesus isn’t less, he’s just saying that we also have it in us to be as PURE or Perfect as the soul that was named Jesus when he was incarnate here. Not taking anything from the energy that is Jesus, Just giving mankind more. It’s not about dissing Jesus, but strengthening the human being. The ones who control the world don’t want us to know that we as individuals are a lot more powerful than what we are made to believe. It’s about controlling the masses so that the few can do as they please. But with our new age of awareness right around the corner, we are learning that they’ve been tricking us all this time. Plus, all the stories in the Bible stem from more ancient stories from Sumeria and other lost civilizations. From the story of Jesus to Adam & EVE to Noah and the deluge. Egypt Rome and many others just changed the name of the entities but the base of the story stays the same. So, don’t believe everything you read in a book…. any book, all books were written by man. and Plus, My god doesn’t need a chariot of fire to reach me. HE IS ALL THAT IS HERE….. From me and you to this computer im using, to the air trees and my clothes. Everything is GOD so I don’t need to go to a church either to talk to him. I just need to talk. The problem with religion, any religion is that they tell you that you have to believe in everything preached there. and you may never look at another religion for other information because if you do then your going against your god or your current religion. And that’s how they get us to know a little bit of the truth and not the whole truth, because they divided the truths in between all religions and made them all them hate each other so that no-one looks at all religions and comes up with the true original story of the gods….. Sorry if i offended you with anything I said. Thank you for your comment and thanks for respecting my views as i respect yours. I’m not saying your wrong or I’m right cuz I didn’t… what is written here is my own personal truth that I am sharing, you take what you want from it, like I took what i wanted from your beliefs. LOVE and LIGHT to you and all around you friend, Bless you and good luck on your journey to finding the truth.

  • http://www.thevoiceforlove.com DavidPaul Doyle

Thank you, Montemor, for sharing your experience in reply to the above sharing. I’ve been out of town for the past four days have not been able to comment.

Thank you, Freepotgrammy, for sharing your experience as well. I will comment briefly:

Firstly, I don’t ever remember saying Jesus is less than the Holy Spirit and God. That is not my experience. We are all part of the Holy Spirit and God, and God and Holy Spirit are part of us. There is no separation, and nothing can exist outside of God, so we are all the same essence, spirit, and being that God is.

Jesus, in my opinion, is an expression of God. Yes he “is” God as well, since everything “is,” but the actual personality and human lifetime of “Jesus” is simply an expression of the Love that God is, of the Holy Spirit that is part of Creation. The consciousness and Beingness that Jesus expressed during his lifetime still exists and has not disappeared. The body of Jesus no longer exists because all expressions of God in this world are temporary. but the essence, spirit, and Beingness that Jesus expressed in the world is eternal, formless, and ever present.

Now everything I just said above is equally true for You, Me, and every expression in the world, which includes every single person in the world. You are not your body. Your body is an expression of Who you really are, which is eternal spirit/beingness. The Holy Spirit’s consciousness is part of your Beingness. It is part of who you are and is available to you and everyone else right now, in every moment.

So we all have the opportunity to go within and access Holy Spirit as our pathway home to God just as Jesus did. We are all equals and we all have the same opportunity to hear only the Holy Spirit and follow only the voice of God within.

I love Jesus. He is my friend and teacher. However, I can directly communicate with the Holy Spirit myself. I don’t have to go through Jesus to do that. Jesus said, he will give us a Comforter. He will give us the Holy Spirit of God to guide us home. And that is what I am doing, and that is what I’m helping others to do as well.

    Many blessings to you! and

  • http://www.thevoiceforlove.com DavidPaul Doyle

I’m not 100% sure what you’re saying, but I will try to respond. First of all, I don’t “want” or “not want” these comments. I am not attached, nor do I have the expectation, that people should comment. At the same time, expressing our experiences with one another has the opportunity to lead to healing. All things in the world can be used to give us an experience of being separate separate, and all things in the world can be used to restore us to the awareness of God. Everything in the world is equal in this regard. It is how one relates to anything that determines whether it is bringing them further away from an experience of love/God, or closer to it. If you relate to something with the ego, it will strengthen your experience of separation. If you relate to something with Holy Spirit, it will strength in your experience of Truth, Oneness, Love, and God, which are all Who/What you truly are.

Hi, DavidPaul, Great job staying in love and not defending. You were direct and clear. You noted that his audience may not have liked what you said, but who knows who was listening and needed your message. I’m sure the part about unconditional love not being in the Bible struck a chord with many Christians who long for unconditional love. “We do not know what anything is for,” according to Lesson 25 in A Course in Miracles, but I’m sure the Holy Spirit is using this interview for good. Blessings, Lorri Coburn

Wow…kudos to both of you for what seemed to be a “Love Extending Marathon”. Don probably wanted to make a meal out of you based on what he said about his negative review of your book. I suspect he couldn’t because of your loving demeanour and candor during the interview. It was beautiful to listen to two people have a coherent and reaction-free discussion about something so vitally important to each but which each interpreted differently, to put it mildly. I’ve always had trouble empathizing with people and wanting to help others, to my own detriment…and I couldn’t help but feel a deep sadness when Don said that all he knew in the world was conditional love. The sound of his voice when he said it almost drove me to tears. I wanted to reach through my computer to do something to help him…but instead I reached inside and asked for some help to better interpret the situation. Thanks to Jason for mentioning the interview and thanks to DavidPaul for giving me the link. I’m better for it.

I’ve realized in the last year or so that one of the most important things anyone can do for me is to provide me with constructive criticism of what I believe. In fact, I would progress a lot quicker on this path if I had more people to discuss my ideas with who could challenge me about them and perhaps show me where they were weak in thier eyes. This would force me to really make sure I understand my beliefs and force me to more clearly state what I believe. When DavidPaul asked us to comment on this interview I think he did it with that philosophy in mind. Destructive criticism could be seen as egoic when not supported and few benefit (a judgement I know :( ), but constructive criticism gives us all a chance to get a little further along on the path. For instance, I had not only think about where you were coming from with the comment you posted Maurits…but I also had to think about how to best respond so you would feel comfortable posting another comment, which I would greatly like to read. I’m sure I read in ACIM that not only is the purpose of the body for communication but that communication itself was one of our main purposes while in the body. At any rate…I’m grateful for the opportunity to discuss this. Thanks.

DavidPaul, that was AWESOME!  Total peace and love, and absolutely no shred of FEAR whatsoever!  Holy Spirit spoke through you with clarity and certainty.  I love and honor the confidence with which you spoke and that place and space from which you were breathing.  I also love and honor the place and space in which the interviewer was speaking and breathing, as I sent him LOVE and the Peace which is beyond all understanding.  This interview blessed me beyond words….

    Thank you, Holy Spirit!  Amen!!!

  • Heart4thesouth

there is a lot to think about in this interview. I have searched in many beliefs looking for the exact teaching that would bring peace into my life, my heart, my day, my soul. I grew up with a fearful upbringing. My dad was addicted, and my mother was very fearful. I learned that was the way to respond to life. It has came naturally, it has been un-natural and foreign to not expect to be abused, put down and rejected. I have tried to live up to all of those teachings. I  learned about the Triune beings that we are. Spirit, Soul and body. I have pondered within myself all the fear, fear, fear and the questioning of what God’s expectation is to merit heaven and not hell! And it has not ever been enough to please everyone of every denomination. I know the Holy Spirit is the voice of God, I have felt my body shake with the power of God. I know in other times even the most lost ones– God has met them exactly in the middle of their mess and pulled them out of it, he was the only one with the power to do that. There is a play on words from the bible in some faith walks. I have spent my life in abject fear, I can not do that anymore. I especially like what you shared about” by their fruits they are known” that is in the bible and that is one of my litmus test, too.You said it differently, but your wording of is it? loving, helpful, patient, kind, to another person or is it unkind, jealous, is exactly the way I see it too.  I have known God’s ministry to me even as a young child, woman, when I lost my daughter @ 4 days old. God was present to me in the hosp. I did nothing of myself to deserve that– but the presence of God comforted me. There is a lot I don’t understand. I have spent my life scared of the Devil and hell, and that just does not seem fitting to me/ if in fact, God is love. The peace that I have and am beginning to experience is sweet and  no one can convince me it is not of God and the Trinity. I don’t understand it all, but we are all on our own journey– thank you for sharing the interview. Mary C.

Catholicism: Everything David Paul said here is in alignment with Catechism except for a temporary after life Hell. But even with that Pope John Paul II said “ Rather than a place, hell indicates the state of those who freely and definitively separate themselves from God, the source of all life and joy.” Which is clearly what David Paul said.

Wow DavidPaul – this interview is just what I needed to hear.  Before I found your site and books, I had an experience of hearing God, and knowing in that moment that I am in heaven.  It blew my mind and I wanted to share that feeling of love with everyone.  In fact I became so joyful many folks thought I had lost my mind.  Somewhere along that path I lost touch with the voice due to doubt and fear that I could possibly be mislead by the “devil” I’ve been taught to fear since I was 4 years old – meanwhile the devil was deceiving me all along and ultimately I fell back into creating my own literal hell of fear, doubt, regret, anger, sadness and despair.  By fearing such a thing as loving too much I became afraid again.  Multiple points in this interview really rang out to me.  That is:  I truly have nothing to fear but fear itself and that love ALWAYS trumps fear.  Thank you so much for putting meaning to my experience of two years ago!!  I’ve been searching for this for soooooo long and just when I needed these valuable life-changing tools I found your site.

Many Blessings to you and Candace! :D

I loved all the loving answer to the interviewer’s Question, it was awesome!specially your opinion about heal, heaven, evil and the fact that we all have the potential to be like Jesus.
You are right David Paul, love and forgiveness is the voice of God,and anger, hatred and resentment the voice of ego.
Some years ago God helped me to forgive the person who took my 18 years old son’s life and after that I am experiencing love, and I am greatful of this experience.

    God bless you

The Pharisees didn’t like Jesus either.  This all fits perfectly with my Mormon faith. Truth and love are the same thing.  Beauty is truth and truth is beauty.

David Paul, is the devil reincarnated.  His deception is sly, suttle and inticing to those who do not know scripture. that’s his job and he is good at it.  If you follow Jesus, you don’t need leaders of nonsense.  He did not hear from God, he is hearing demon spirits, and he is trying to sucker others to the pit with him.

  • Faithy

I have been blessed many times to have heard the Holy Spirit ~and when you hear it, you know unconditionally that it is the Holy Spirit! Your videos have just enhanced me more spiritually ~ and your faith didn’t waver at all, your voice was very strong and confident~

  • Nataša Marovic

Dear David Paul, i was astonished how your responded to questions in love, even when the questions were clearly provocative. It was really strange how can you so persistantly stay in love. I think Christians are to much in terms do it right and perhaps stuck in Old testament teachings but in 1 Corinthians it is clear that Love is above all. I have made often a conclusion, what a profit of all these scriptures, teachings, achieving to be right when you loose this wonderful touch with God who is love! Many Christians are hurt me because they had not experience of Gods love but have by heart learned scriptures and doctrines and when situation came to give love, understanding, patience, money, ear that listen they were uncapable to do that and i was so unhappy and i wandered why God, why is it so. Because they were in mind, not in heart where God is. Ok, i will not judge them because they simply not experienced Gods love in some kind of measure. God is not only dead word, God is alive and wonderful, carying, compassionate friend. God is not some kind of rule but spirit and love. And Bible clearly says, ALL WILL VANISH BUT LOVE WILL ONLY STAY, and THAT WE ONLY SEE PARTIALY NOW, BUT WILL SEE IN HEAVEN ALL OF THE GODS LOVE. Well, we see then Gods love now partialy.
    I love you all

DavidPaul, this was a beautiful interview. You really hit the major points with such clarity. Your answers were given with such clarity and love, and God bless the interviewer who set you up for such wonderful explainations! The two issues that block traditional Christianity, from the time of the Nicene Council onward, involve the belief that Jesus’ reality is that he was a body and that our reality is that we are a body. That in spite of the belief that we are eternal souls (split personalities?). That belief was taken to prove that this man who was so connected with God that he could ascend into heaven must be the only real Son of God and the rest of us somehow exist outside of God (which would make us very powerful as bodies!). The second major issue of contention is what led to the Protastant revolution. It was the debate about whether revelation was fixed within the solid, material form of the Bible or whether it was ongoing. You covered it all, explaining that Knosis is possible, indeed inevitable, for all of us, and you did it with such love and clarity that this interview should be held and used as a teaching device. Love you!

Great to hear this !  I was able to witness the great quandry  between being separate from God ( and in complete obeyance of the commandments )  and being together with God in complete obeyance of the commandments.  Two very different states of being -  and it was shown in spades in the interview.  Praise you both !

What came across to me was the deep despair of the person who was interviewing you.  A voice crying out in the desert “Why not me?”.  “I have kept all your commandments, as I have learnt them from the Bible, and still I don’t experience the living waters of God.”  And the other strong emotion that came across was fear.  “I have held on to my beliefs without deviation, had faith and preached to others of Jesus Christ, if I let go of all this I would be cast adrift like a ship without a sail or rudder.”  But, of course, the New Testament is a fragmented, diluted and censored version of the original text and that itself was written after Jesus was crucified.  So much of the Truth and the Light in it is hidden.
Blessings and love to you DavidPaul and to Candace.  Thank you for both being channels for the Light and Love of God to pour through.
May all dogma be changed into spirituality in this great year of unfolding and ascending consciousness.

I so enjoyed this interview – I accept all you taught and I hope in my challenges to speak clearly and convey the message of divine love, I do as well as you.

Thank you for sending this link to interview.  I was actually pretty entertained as you presented your truth in the face of someone trying to call you “the devil,” in essence.  Yet it was sad to hear him talk about there only being conditional love from God.  Thank goodness more and more people are starting to realize the Truth of God’s undying, unwavering, and unconditional Love for every one of us.

DavidPaul, I really loved every word of this interview. At first I was struck by the “low energy” of Don and his rather loaded questions. But soon it was so obvious how the truth and love of God does shine through you in all ways, in every word and that you shine that over everyone else. The interviewer was, in the end, taken also by your spirit of love, which is, of course God’s! I felt that the interviewer (unconsciously probably) hungers for the experience of God that you live in every moment. Stunning. Love, Terry in Atlanta

Wow! If I could speak our truth with such love, such clarity, with such(I am crying), with such conviction I would hit the streets and go where anyone would listen. Did you really used to be introverted, DavidPaul? You spoke everything that is in my heart. Thank you.

Thanks Jonathan :-) glad to hear it.

By the way, I am still an introvert, just not on this topic with those who are interested in talking about it. Then I can talk all day :-)

Hey, that’s ironic. That is actually what I do :-)

    Dear DavidPaul
The Bible  talk about Jesus as son of God and . Talk a several place in the Bible how Jesus will born and when and said ask anything in Jesus name from God and God will give us what we ask if it is God will as well. The Bible talk about trinity =God +Jesus+Spirit is= One
Jesus died for our sin , and who believe in Jesus and leave their sin , will be live for ever!
The Bible clearly talk about if someone do not believe Jesus as son of God do not going to have forever live.
Yes Jesus was talk by  a holy spirit and a holy spirit is God .
Sorry about my spelling I have  English as a second language  .
how can we know about God if we not reading his word what is the Bible wrote by peoples whom taught was inspired by God.
But I agree with you  if our taught is full with love and compassionate, we’re closer to God.
but the Bible talk about prophet, and apostle who was close to God  and did God will and peoples
hate them and killed them !!!     Like Jeremiah,Isaiah, John apostle . God loved them and they all was inspired by the holy spirit, but their life was not happy , and full with joy but they were is danger when they were talk god words for peoples!!
the whole Bible foundation is Jesus Christ  who manifested God on Earth!
Dear DavidPaul I like a way you talk about love .
I was studying the Bible I prayed a lot but I don’t feel a Holy spirit   talk to me. One thing for sure
when I trust God and not worrying too much God help us !maybe not a way how I imagined but
help us for our favor.and tic-hing us for trust him.
    Thank you
